Ron Wilburn: From College Construction to CPA Leadership, with a Side of Home-Building Passion
Ron Wilburn, the visionary founder of Midtown Cabinets, brings a richly layered professional journey spanning over three decades—one that balances full-time corporate expertise with part-time pursuits in construction and real estate. A proud Tulsa native, Ron’s story begins in the family business, where he cut his teeth on practical building skills while pursuing his education.
During his time at Oklahoma State University, studying Business Administration (graduated in 1987), Ron worked hands-on for his father’s company, Wilco Guttering Company in Tulsa, Oklahoma. After graduation, Ron worked as a CPA in public practice for various CPA firms in Dallas and Tulsa, finally owning Wilburn CPA PLLC from 2013 until 2019. He then sold his CPA firm, and started full-time buying, remodeling, and selling properties. In early 2024, Ron started Midtown Cabinets to focus on his passion for woodworking and luxury cabinetry.
As a Tulsa Home Builders Association member, Ron continues to evolve, attending KBIS expos and always learning. His portfolio now includes full custom home construction, many luxury home remodels, and of course custom design, fabrication, and installation of kitchen and bathroom cabinetry.
A little about Ron’s personal life, #1 he loves Jesus, he is a member of Cornerstone Church in Tulsa, and he’s been married 40 years to his high school sweetheart, Jennifer Wilburn. He has 3 grown children, Lauren, Stephanie, and John. All three of them are married. Ron currently has 4 grandchildren. When not traveling to Dallas to see his grandchildren play sports or attend grandparents day at their school, Ron likes to ride motorcycles, spend time at Grand Lake at his cabin, and fish (not much time for fishing, but maybe someday).
